The rank of Eagle Scout is the highest rank for leadership in the Boy Scouts of America. Much of the leadership style gained through achievement to the rank of Eagle Scout can contribute to the success of the individual in the future. Previous research has focused on the overall leadership characteristics of Scouting, but this research will focus on the leadership traits associated with Scouts who have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. This research will address how the Eagle Scout rank has contributed to an individual's future or how they expect it to contribute to their future. The Greater Alabama Council provides guidance for the loyal Boy Scout program that has allowed young men to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout by gaining leadership skills that can contribute to their future career goals. The Boy Scouts of America was formed in 1911 with the American guidebook Handbook for Boys and was based on the 1908 book Scouting for Boys by Scouts founder Lord Robert Baden-Powell. The founders of Scouting in America created one rank advancement badge that would stand above all others in terms of requirements of time, dedication, knowledge, honor, and character. This is how the rank of Eagle Scout rank was born. The Eagle Scout rank requires that the Scout master a vast number of skills and prove his character and ability to lead others. This research study evaluates how the leadership values gained through the Eagle Scout Project and rank advancement have contributed to servant leadership characteristics of these leaders.The 12 required merit badges are First Aid, Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation, Citizenship in the World, Communications, Environmental Science, Personal Fitness, Personal Management, Camping, and Family Life. ...
